Working with Pelli Clarke Pelli, McLaren Engineering, NYC Economic Development Corporation and the local community, the project involves the design of a waterfront park, two piers, and a beach on the Greenpoint-Williamsburg Waterfront park system. In addition, we propose to pedestrianize India Street while employing sustainable sites initiatives such as porous paving and water recharge gardens with a dunescape on the water’s edge.
The landscape design concept draws from the rich historical legacy of the site from a sandy bluff, to a shipbuilding yard, then a lumber yard. With materiality, texture, and transformation of the hard edge to a soft, beachfront bluff we hope to reveal the site narrative with contemporary design.
